You may choose between a 7-day, 14-day, or 21-day loan period. You may download the eBook, audiobook, or music multiple times during this period. Videos can be borrowed for 3, 5, or 7 days.
How many eBooks can I check out at one time?
You may check out up to 10 titles at a time.
Can I renew the eBooks I have checked out?
Yes. The option to renew will be available three days before the title is set to expire. You can only use the renew feature once for each title you've borrowed. Follow the following steps to renew:
Step 1 – Sign in to the Ohio Digital Library with your library card number and password. Select Account.
Step 2 – On your Bookshelf, select the Renew icon next to the title you’d like to renew. This option will only appear three days before the title is expected to expire. If the Renew icon is green, you can borrow the item again immediately once your first checkout expires. If the Renew icon is gray, then there are existing holds on the title and you will reserve a spot on the title’s holds list.
Step 3 – Enter and confirm your e-mail address in the renewal form, then select the Renew button. Once the title is available for you to borrow again, you will receive an e-mail notification to borrow the title a second time.
Step 4 – After you receive an e-mail notification to borrow the title a second time, go to your Account on the Ohio Digital Library. Select Holds. Select the blue Renew button next to the title, from there the title will move from your Holds to your Bookshelf. Select the Download button to download the title for a second time.
How can I tell if an eBook is already checked out?
You’ll see the link Place a Hold next to the title. Click on this link, and you’ll be put on the waiting list.
How many eBooks can I place on the waiting list at the same time?
You can place up to 12 titles on hold at a time.
How will I be notified if an eBook I am waiting on is available?
You will receive an e-mail message letting you know that the eBook is available, along with instructions on how to download the eBook. You will have 3 days from the date of the message to download the eBook before it is released to the next patron waiting.
How to download the eBook I placed on hold?
After receiving the e-mail notification, go to the Ohio Digital Library website. Select Account, and then select Holds. Select the blue Borrow button. After you select Borrow, you will be redirected to your Bookshelf to continue the download process.
How do I return my eBook to the library?
You do not have to return an eBook at all. When your loan period is over, the eBook file will no longer work. You then can delete the file. To return Kindle eBooks early, go to Manage Your Kindle on Amazon.com. Select the Actions button for the book you wish to return and select Return This Book. Choose Delete from Library if the title has already expired. To return EPUB eBooks early, go to Bookshelf through the OverDrive app. Hold down on the book image until the return/delete menu appears.
